Anglesea Console Table
Built for the in-between spaces of a home - the Anglesea Console table's long narrow profile is designed for hallways, landings and behind-sofa placements. Angled, tapered legs splay outward from the top, lending the piece a sense of lift.
Beneath the surface, a slatted shelf of three laths creates a magazine shelf, perfect for books and objects. The legs are morticed into the underside of the top and hand-shaped, joined using traditional mortise and tenon construction. Hand-set copper nails detail the surface, a quiet visual counterpoint to the clean lines of the joinery beneath.
For almost a century, the timber in this table witnessed the moments that defined Irish sporting history. It held the roof of the Anglesea Stand at the Royal Dublin Society - home to the prestigious Aga Khan and Irish rugby internationals. When the stand was demolished in 2024, the timber was rescued, nails, bolts and all the cracks of a well lived life.
The timber is pitch pine - the building material of choice for Victorian public buildings and grand civic structures across Britain and Ireland. Prized for its density, its resinous grain and its extraordinay durability, old growth pitch pine is now virtually extinct. What remains exists only in buildings old enough to have used it. This is some of the last of it.
Due to the natural materials and handmade nature of these tables, each is unique and the colour, grain and finish of the wood will vary from piece to piece.
All our pieces are made by hand in our studio in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow using time honoured skills and the finest materials.
Each piece will be indivdually numbered and signed by Eoin.
